That's not exactly true. For example is "wofür" not the same as "warum" if you use it correctly. "wofür" and "wozu" are more specific since you want to know the result of the specific action and not the starting condition. The asking person wants to know what you wanted to achieve and not why you wanted to achieve it. Also I get arteries thick as sausages every time I hear someone say "für was", "mit was", "zu was" etc. instead of the correct "wozu", "womit" or "wozu".

OP tried to learn German and didn't understand it. So he is complaining about something he doesn't know about. Because everyone who speaks German fluently, knows that all of those words have different meanings. They all exist in many if not every language. Just because they start with the same letter in German, doesn't mean they all mean the same.
